Happy Friday!!

Well, it's heating up around here. I have such a low tolerance to the heat, that I stay in a lot in the really hot summer months. But I stay busy crafting and creating as much as possible. It's nice to hang out at the pools or clubs with misters on their patios when it gets into the high 90's or triple digits around here. I also really love the fact that we can enjoy so much of the nightlife here, long after the sun goes down. Many a summer night spent here however with the temps still hovering around 100 degrees or above on a languid summer night. I'd still rather be out at midnight than during the day when the temps get up there like that. Please enjoy this gorgeous Friday people, summer is on it's way!!

krazyHeartdezigns

Most folks who know me know me as an assemblage artist or collage artist. But in truth I am an artist, a crafter, and a mad DIY 'er, all of which I've been doing most of my life. I also have a penchant for costuming and design. With a husband who is a gifted photographer I've been able to play around with both of those things for the last 10 years. I have a creative streak that never ends and a mind that never shuts down. I spend every waking moment, and half my sleeping moments building or designing something in my mind. I am just sharing this because I want to post things all sorts of things here. Thoughts, processes, techniques, DIY's, display, packaging, costuming and design, are all things that interest me. I never know what will interest me next, until I'm looking at it, and the little fingers of curiosity start tickling my neck. Feel free to follow along and see where my imagination takes me next.

Be afraid Vegas!!

Love Letter to Downtown feat. Park on Fremont

So, if you know me, you know I have mad love for Downtown, Las Vegas. It is the heart of this city, and the passionate creative people there are the heartbeat. If you are just tuning in, and interested to see parts of Vegas you probably won't find on The Travel Channel (yet) then follow me, and I'll give you some up close and personal views of some really interesting places here in Las Vegas. But don't expect them to all be beautiful. I show it how it is. And if you're going to love this town, as I do, you have to love it all. These are the things that make it Vegas.

This particular post is about one of the newest places here in downtown and one of my very favorites, BUT this place is FUCKING BEAUTIFUL!!

Without a doubt, this sign is well on it's way to becoming one of the most iconic and well shot signs in Vegas. I don't like to think about it just yet, but imagine this one in the bone yard??!! Wow! This teeny neon is deserving of that prestigious end, isn't it?? I say yes!

This new gastro-pub at 506 E. Fremont has fabulous bar fare and one of the most eclectic interiors you are likely to find. The interior of this place is like something out of a lucid dream. The designer or design team deserves a gold medal for excellence on this job.

Wheat paste murals in the secret garden

Yeah, its a teeter totter!!

And...oh yes we did!!

If you visit, please see the outdoor patio!! It's perfect for kicking it outdoors with a some cocktails and a couple of friends!!

This is my chair btw, so don't get caught sitting in it!! Or it will be "Off with your head!" Heheh.

Mmm hmm, its a pumpkin coach!! You saw it here first!

And some sweet shelter for the winged "downtowners". These are penthouse digs!!

This could be one of the most seriously bad ass things I've ever seen!

And last but not least, some glorious glass.

I may have to do another post on this place as well, as there is so much more to see than meets the eye. Do yourself a favor, and get on in here!!

Chloride, Arizona

So we took a little day trip to Chloride Az. yesterday for a Steampunk photo shoot with friends. It's, without a doubt, one of my favorite little towns in Arizona, besides maybe Jerome, and it was an absolutely perfect day for kicking about in the desert! Anyway, I thought I'd share a few pictures of yesterday's excursion with ya...

I'll show you some pictures of past trips to this amazing little town in a future post! There's just so much more to explore than can be seen in one day!

There's no Place like Home, There's no Place like Home

....so I clicked my ruby red heels three times and *poof*...I was back in Vegas

Loyal Salon

So while I was in Colorado, I got to place some more of my jewelry and art in the Loyal Salon and Boutique, opened in December by my good friend Joy Jackson

Who, BTW, is sporting new earrings by krazyHeartdezigns made from guitar picks I got at Wild About Music at SXSW a few years back.

Here are a few pics of the salon/boutique

Which is soo cute! And a few pics of my work about the shop

This is a piece of art done on the wall of the salon by a local artist with painters tape!!

Coming Home

On the way back we always try to stop at as many kitschy roadside attractions as possible. Coming up with people who would have been considered American gypsies and the original vagabonds I am always drawn to things I remember from my youth.

My dream car, the big one, not the little one.

Route 66

Laguna Burger, New Mexico

Pickle barrels

Kool-aid pickles

The Mr.

Dino-love
I am always up for a little road trip, although I am the worst traveler ever. I am always looking for castles made of bottles and giant balls of string. A giant plaster space ship will always beckon me in off the road.

Fort Collins, Colorado Part 5 cont'd

So one of my favorite stores of all was this one called Akinz...

And she wasn't kidding.

A store of all handmade goods, beanies, silk screened shirts and other handmade apparel and jewelry. They even had a little window you could look through into the "workroom" in the back to watch your shirt being created. This store had a really lovely aesthetic and you can find her website here. Please read her ABOUT, it's good for the heart stuff.

A little trip out to the farm in the afternoon found us caught in a little hailstorm. No trip to Colorado is complete without either.

The Booze Barn (note the drive-up window)

And this railcar was a beauty! I'd love to have a studio in one of these someday. The trick would be finding a place to park it here in Las Vegas.
